In 2006 I purchased a new PSE Primos STL bow at the worst possible time for a bowhunter…during the middle of archery deer season.   At the time I was living in the Wichita, Kansas area and my old bow, a Browning Mirage, had developed some problems.   A trip to a local archery pro-shop resulted in the choice of a new PSE Primos STL due to my 31’ draw length.   Their “Pro-Shop” set the bow up for me and tuned it.

After some brief practice sessions I found the bow to be accurate at 20 yards but inconsistent at 30-40 yard ranges.  In season and with no choice but to hunt I had to reconcile myself to 20 yard shots to be sure of an accurate shot.  Regretfully I passed up a broadside shot at a nice 8-point at 45 yards.  Checking the bow at that range later proved I made the right decision…I would have shot at least two feet low!

A job change brought me to the Hiawatha, Kansas area in August of 2007 and I quickly found Votruba Archery in Fairview.   After meeting with Casey and explaining my bow issues he recommended I bring it in and have him set it up and tune it for me.  In less than five minutes he was able to identify six to eight serious issues with how the bow was set up.  In fact Casey had to completely disassemble my bow and re-time the cams as well as correct issues with improper sight and arrow rest adjustment, nock point etc.

Upon picking up my bow a few days later I found the bow performed flawlessly!  In fact it didn’t even shoot like the same bow it was so much better.  Now I can confidently shoot at 20 to 45 yards with consistent accuracy.   If you haven’t had your bow properly tuned for a while (or you had it tuned somewhere else) , I would recommend having Casey Votruba set it up and tune it for you…this small investment could mean the difference between a trophy of a lifetime or the disappointment of a lifetime.  As for me, I want the trophy!   There are enough odds against harvesting trophy deer with a bow…and I don’t want my bow to be one of them.

True Testimonials
VOTRUBA ARCHERY
I first went to Votruba Archery January 2007, on the recommendation of a friend, after a particularly bad deer season in 2006, to replace some arrows.  I walked away with more than just arrows.  After getting some lessons and free advice from the owner, Casey Votruba, I upgraded my equipment, and increased my bow hunting skills.

I made my first deer bow-kill that winter of 2007, which I believe is the direct result of the lessons and practice time at Votruba Archery.  Everyone at Votruba Archery is more than willing to help anyone who wants to upgrade their equipment, or just need to fine-tune their bow hunting skills.
I walked away with more than just equipment. Casey and Celeste Votruba have become more than just business owners, they have become good friends.

If you want a place to go to buy new equipment, upgrade existing equipment, or just to talk about bow hunting, Votruba Archery, of Fairview, Kansas is the place to be.
